Gimæs 1962 Kaune, nuo 1988 daktaras, 2004 pereita habilitacijos procedûra, nuo 2005 profesorius, nuo 2007 Tekstilës technologijos katedros vedëjas. 1998-2003 Lietuvos tekstilës instituto Tarybos pirmininkas. 2003-09 Lietuvos valstybinio mokslo ir studijø fondo “Technologijos mokslø ekspertø komiteto” narys. Nuo 2008 Europos sàjungos ðaliø tarptautinës AUTEX organizacijos magistrantûros E-TEAM dëstytojas.
